On Monday, May 30, 2019, BBC Afaan Oromo reported that six people died in Wollega, Western Oromia after a hand grande thrown at members of Ethiopian defense forces. According to local reports, the people who died were caught in the crossfire when Federal Defense Forces retaliated against the Oromia Liberation Front (OLF) army. The militant group managed to rob 18 banks located in Wollega region within two days in January 2019. PM Abiy Ahmed’s administration received strong criticism following the robberies, and some even took it as the administration favoring the OLF militia.
