Addis Ababa Baladera Council expressed opposition to Mayor Takele Uma’s plan to demolish of homes

Acting Mayor Takele Uma held a press conference on May 23, 2019, to give an official statement on measures to be taken on illegally appropriated lands in Addis Ababa. The measure will result in the demolishing of 30,000 houses in the five biggest sub-cities of Addis Ababa. The statement received a backlash from many groups, and many questioned the motive behind this measure.
