Disturbance in Debre Markos University is not ethnic-based – spokesperson

Debre Markos University has been on high alert since Friday, May 24, 2019, after three students were attacked. The situation didn’t get much attention considering the multiple turmoils happening throughout universities in the country. Reports started surfacing after the same commotion leads to the death of a graduate student. Seare Abraha was an Economics graduating student from Shere Endaselassie, Tigray. The individuals responsible for the commotion have not been identified yet. Many social media have labeled the incident as ethnic-based violence. Mereja TV contacted the university’s spokesperson for a response on the situation.
