Ethiopis, owned by journalist and human rights activist Eskinder Nega, has rising readers and blooming publication due to the press freedom coined by the reforms brought by PM Abiy Ahmed. This freedom was challenged today when Addis Ababa Police attacked and arrested journalist Misgan Getachew, one of the reporters for Ethiopis newspaper. The police relieved him of his camera before attacking him and taking him to a nearby station. They released him after a few hours. Before the arrest, Misgan was on his way to Arat Kilo area to report and interview residents about the recently demolished houses in the area. Mereja TV sat down with journalist Misgan and Eskinder Nega to talk about the events that have unfolded in the few hours.
