An enormous dust storm has hit Dire Dawa, a city in Eastern Ethiopia, and surrounding areas including Kulubi, Adama and other areas in the southeastern parts of Ethiopia. The storm originated in Djibouti before passing through Somaliland and covering the cities for a few hours. According to Assistant professor Yonas Tadesse (Geography Lecturer at Dire Dawa University), such phenomenon occurs as a result of a low air pressure that moved to the Northern hemisphere. Locals have reported that the cities were dark due to the dust storm.
