On April 27, 2019, the office of the prime minister confirmed the saddening news for all Ethiopians. The news read former EPRDF president Dr. Negasso Gidada’s passing away at age 76 due to health complications in Frankfurt, Germany. According to previously disclosed plans, the national committee arranged the funeral ceremony today, May 5, 2019. In addition to the thousands of people who attended the ceremony, EPRDF Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, First Lady Zinash Tayachew, EPRDF President Sahlework Zewde, Minister Muferuat Kamil and other senior and high ranking officials attended. Dr. Negasso was laid to rest at St. Peter-Paul catholic cemetery this afternoon.
