We are prisoners of war – Bereket Simon

Bereket Simon and Tadesse Kasaa appeared in court yesterday for charges of corruption related to TIRET Corporation. During the last session, the court had granted the prosecution team additional time for further investigation. After presenting their findings, the prosecution requested for an additional 14 days to collect more evidence from audit reports. However, the defense team objected the request and asked for bail. After listening to both sides, the court granted the prosecution an additional 8 days and declined the defense team’s request for bail as it is against Ethiopia’s criminal code to grant bail for suspects charged with corruption allegations. the highlight of the session was Ato Bereket’s passive remark.
