Ethiopian journalists safety is still in question

Ethiopia was once named a dangerous place for journalists. Before the recent reform, many journalists have been sentenced to years in prison for doing what’s right. Journalists are obligated to a strong commitment to present the truth and support national growth and bring about social change. This loyalty to their profession didn’t agree with the previous era of EPRDF that stripped their right to safety and persecution. However, PM Abiy Ahmed changed this when he started his term by freeing all journalists wrongly accused. The question remaining in everyone’s mind is whether this a PR propaganda or are really journalists safe in Ethiopia.
