Ethiopians celebrated the 123rd Adwa Victory anniversary last Saturday. The anniversary has been always regarded as a reminder of Ethiopians unity. The biggest celebrations were in Addis Ababa and Adwa. In Addis Ababa, residents gathered at Emperor Menelik II statue in front of St. George Church at Piassa. Decorated patriots and government officials attended the ceremony. This year’s celebration somewhat had a unique vibrant mood. The celebration continued in the afternoon with a concert at Meskel square.
In Adwa town, the celebrations were held near the Soloda mountain where the battle of Adwa took place. EPRDF President Sahlework Zewde, Minister of Ministry for Culture and Tourism Hirut Kasaw, Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael, and many guests attended the celebration at Adwa and give keynote speeches.
