Ethiopian runners have dominated the Tokyo annual Marathon with wins in both the men and women’s races.
Birhanu Legesse won the men’s category at the Tokyo Marathon with a time of 2:04:48. Kenyan Bedan Karoki came in second place with a time of 2:06:48.
In the women’s category, Ethiopia’s Ruti Aga came in first place with a time of 2:20:40. Helen Tola, another Ethiopian runner, finished second place. Ruti also won second place during last year’s Tokyo Marathon.
