The Jewish Agency has called on the Israeli government to expedite the immigration of thousands of Ethiopian Jews from Ethiopia to Israel.
There are currently about 8,000 members of the Falash Mura community, who identify as descendants of Jews, in Ethiopia. A team from the Jewish Agency will head to Ethiopia next month to determine whether their migration should be funded.
This is not the first time that Israeli authorities would transport Ethiopian Jews from the Falash Mura community to Israel. In 2016, about 1,300 members of the Falash Mura community were transported to Israel.
