Ethiopia and Djibouti to build gas pipeline connecting both countries


Ethiopia and Djibouti have signed an agreement to build a gas pipeline connecting both countries. It will extend from the Ogaden Basin located in eastern Ethiopia to the port of Djibouti.

The gas pipeline will reportedly be 767 kilometers long and will provide Ethiopia with access to the export terminal via the Red Sea.

Samuel Hurcato, Ethiopia’s Minister of Mines and Petroleum, said the agreement between both countries is structured to be of mutual benefit. Meanwhile, Ali Yacoub, Djibouti’s Minister of Energy, said the pipeline will be the most expensive project ever in the region. The cost of the project is yet to be disclosed. […] CONTINUE READING
