3 mosques burned in Ethiopia over allegation of couple crushing image of St. Mary

The President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council has condemned the burning of three mosques in the Amhara regional state. The torching of the mosques occurred in two woredas in South Gondar on Sunday.

The message by Sheik Mohammed came after a third mosque was burned on Sunday.

The two mosques were burned on February 3 after claims that a picture of St. Mary was found among the decorations at the wedding of a Muslim couple. The picture of St. Mary was allegedly crushed at the wedding, prompting the attacks on the mosques.
