Ethiopian military helicopter crashes in UN base in South Sudan

An Ethiopian military helicopter crashed into a United Nations (UN) compound in the Abyei region of South Sudan on Sunday.

According to the UN, about 23 passengers were on board the helicopter when the accident occurred. Ten people on the helicopter sustained injuries and have been hospitalised. Three others are currently in critical condition.

The UN is still investigating the cause of the helicopter crash. UN peacekeeping forces have a presence in the Abyei border region, which is rich in oil and has been a source of dispute between Sudan and South Sudan. […] CONTINUE READING
