AU commissions statue of Emperor Haile Selassie in Addis Ababa


African leaders have commissioned a statue in honor of Emperor Haile Selassie. The statue was launched at the African Union (AU) headquarters in Ethiopia’s capital city Addis Ababa.

The AU built the statue to recognize the contributions of the last Emperor of Ethiopia in the formation of the Organization of African Unity (OUA) in 1963.

Several African leaders and government representatives were present at the ceremony to launch the statue.
