The proclamation banning alcohol advertisements restrains the press – Tarekegn Newt

On February 5, 2019, parliament passed a bill prohibiting smoking in public places and also bans a category of alcohol advertisement, particularly in broadcast media. The proclamation became a necessity after studying impacts on the society particularly the youth. The bill, however, was criticized by economic experts.

Mereja TV interviewed Assistant Professor Akale Worke, Social Science Expert, and Tarekegn Newt, Economics expert, to weigh upon the different aspects the bill will impact.
