Ethiopian migrants die off Djibouti coast

Despite being the fastest growing country in Africa, Ethiopia has lost many people to illegal migration. On January 29, 2019, news broke out in Djibouti that illegal migrants from Ethiopia died in an accident, and survivors were rescued. Mereja TV contacted Ministry of Foreign Affairs to verify the news. According to Spokesman Nebiyat Getachew, the migrants lost their lives when a boat en route to Yemen capsized at Godoria, North-Eastern Djibouti coast. Following the deaths of Ethiopian migrants at Tanzanian coast five months earlier, this is the second accident within a few months.
