Ginbot 7 leader Berhanu Nega supports the call for a presidential system of government for Ethiopia

In an interview with the Voice of America (VOA), Ethiopian opposition party Ginbot 7 chairman Dr Berhanu Nega talks about current affairs in Ethiopia and his party’s activities since he returned from exile last September. Dr Berhanu has expressed his support for the proposal to change Ethiopia’s governing system from Parliamentarism where the head of the government is the Prime Minister and the president plays primarily a ceremonial role as head of state, to a Presidential system where there is a nationally elected leader who is the head of both the government and the state.
