It is to be recalled that, following his appointment, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has asked the Ethiopian diaspora to save one dollar from their daily coffee expense. The Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund (EDTF) was established with aims to finance people-focused social and economic development projects. The Fund's objective will be working on making the highest positive impact on groups and communities in Ethiopia in such areas as health, education, water, and sanitation facilities. But during his speech at African Union Headquarters, Prime Minister Abiy made a remark at the Ethiopian diaspora community who has failed to keep their promise to lend a hand to Ethiopia. According to him the number of diasporas who have donated so far is no more than 2800. He also added that the support of the diaspora is vital for the growth of the country. Ethiopia's global diaspora is estimated to be around two million.
