Ethiopia Satellite Television and Radio (ESAT) is struggling with division among its members and journalists. The divided groups have spoken about their frustrations and arguments related to political differences. Former ESAT journalists also spoken out on the on-going debate. Tamagne Beyene, an artist, and human rights advocator, has been the managing director for ESAT Washington DC office. He recently released a statement on the status of ESAT upon his arrival which was the total opposite of viewers expectations. Neamen Zeleke, the former leader in Ginbot 7 and board member in ESAT, responded to Tamagne’s statement. It is known that ESAT has been linked to Ginbot 7 in relation to ownership and influence.
