Ethiopian Satellite Television and Radio (ESAT) has been an influential media in the struggle for the recent changes in Ethiopia. With offices in the USA and Ethiopia, ESAT has been on the air for nine years. However, the media powerhouse is facing challenges of its own after a fallout among the members and journalists. The controversy surrounding that Ginbot 7 owns the station and several journalists were fired due to political differences further increased the debate. ESAT members have divided into groups, and each has its own version of the argument.
