Gedu Andargachew, the president of the Amhara Region, has called for an investigation into the deaths of about six civilians who were shot by the Ethiopian Army.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when the soldiers, who were escorting construction trucks, opened fire on a group of civilians. The civilians reportedly attacked the trucks which they suspected were transporting weapons.
There have been several violent incidents in region in recent months. In December, ESAT reported the discovery of three illegal training facilities in the region.
According to Gedu, the recent shooting incident may have been a mistake should be thoroughly investigated. He also sent his condolences to the families of victims of the attack. […] CONTINUE READING
