US denies involvement in bringing Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to power


The United States has denied playing a part in the recent political change in Ethiopia. According to the US Embassy in Ethiopia, America was not involved in Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s election to office.

Nicolas Burnet, the spokesperson of the US embassy in Ethiopia, denied the allegation which was made by a veteran of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.

Sibhat Nega claimed the US pulled strings to bring the Premier to power during a symposium last month.
