About 538 prisoners have been pardoned ahead of the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian Christmas. The office of the Attorney General announced the release ahead of the Christmas celebration which is set to take place on January 7th.
The inmates were reportedly released from both regional and federal prisons. The government gave priority to elderly prisoners, mothers, and people in need of special attention.
