Ethiopia rakes in $3 billion in taxes in 5 months

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Revenue has announced that the country collected about 83 billion birr ($3 billion) in taxes during the last five months of 2018, from July 8th to December 7th, 2018.

Like many African nations, Ethiopia has struggled with tax collection. Political instability and the growth of illegal businesses are just some of the challenges that tax officials faced.
