PM Abiy Ahmed gives a speech at Awassa Stadium, while TPLF soldiers attack students in Ambo – video

Ethiopia’s new Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed resumed his national tour today by travelling to Awassa, southern Ethiopia. He gave a speech to a large crowd at the Awassa (renamed Hawassa by TPLF) Stadium. While PM Abiy was taking about change and reform, TPLF troops were detaining students who were holding peaceful protests in the town of Ambo today. How is Abiy going to succeed in implementing his reform agenda while the TPLF thugs are running rampant in the country and shooting at unarmed Ethiopians who are exercising their right to hold peaceful protests? One of the many solutions that have been suggested is for the international community to hold TPLF officials personally responsible for their atrocities and impose travel and economic sanctions against them. The Magnitsky Act that President Trump has signed last December is a powerful tool in this regard.
