n recent years, Ethiopia has been rocked with ethnic tensions. Lately, the tension has started to affect the Ethiopian premier league, the league with most fans in East Africa. Organized fans of football clubs going around the country whenever their team has a playoff somewhere else is a common thing in the country. But the ethnic tension between opposing fans has been the cause of violence on and off the field. One of the major tension is between fans of clubs from Amhara and Tigray region. Following the conflicts between the club fans last year, Ethiopian Football Federation had postponed any games among the clubs and ordered the games to be played in closed neutral stadiums. However, that seems to change this year as the clubs finally hosted matches in their respective regions.
