Passenger plane forced to return to Addis Ababa for suspicious currency cargo

Ethiopian Airlines passenger jet that was flying to China was forced to return to Addis Ababa because of suspicions that stolen foreign currency being on board. Ethiopian Customs Authority Public Relations Director Ato Addisu Yirdaw told Mereja TV that an employee of Ethiopian Airlines used his privilege of passing customs without being searched to give 6170 Pound, 33,115 Euro and 1,264,000 Ethiopian Birr to a woman flying to China. But his co-workers become suspicious of what was happening and got hold of the money. Afterwards, the aircraft was forced to come back to Addis Ababa to put the woman in custody.
