835 heavily armed individuals arrested in Oromia and Benishangul-Gumuz

Ethiopia has been rocked with ethnic violence in different regions. The latest round of deadly ethnic violence in the country has hit areas bordering the Oromo and Benishangul-Gumuz regions in Western Ethiopia. The area has been in distress due to attacks from armed groups, and many private and government offices were shut down for a while. Lives were lost and there were damage to property as a result, thousands are also forced to flee their homes. Western Ethiopia Command Post was deployed to the area to investigate and had so far arrested 835 suspected individuals. The command post announced that it was able to seize illegal firearms, vehicles, communication devices and other items from militias operating in the area. The command is planning to extend its operations to areas where robberies are still being committed and present findings of their investigation to the public. The command also announced that they are working with the general attorney to lawfully process the arrested individuals.
