Ireland-based NGO to send 30,000 computers to Ethiopian schools


More than 30,000 PCs are to be provided to 1,250 schools in Ethiopia over three years under a $12 million project run by Irish technology-in-learning charity Camara Education.

The initiative will benefit a total of 1.2m students, and is supported by computer company Dell and the Ethiopian Ministry for Education.

As part of the project, a new computer lab and e-learning centre has just been opened at Shimelis Habte Secondary School in Addis Ababa.

Over $9m is being invested in the overall project by the Ethiopian government through local government budgets, while parents and communities are also contributing.
