Following the appointment of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia has seen dramatic political changes this year. As a part of the reform agenda, authorities announced investigations targeting senior members of the security forces. Arrests of the most high-profile officials are being taken as measures to fulfill Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's promise to rein in the security services and tackle economic mismanagement, corruption and rights abuses. The investigation is led by the Federal Attorney-General Ato Birhanu Tsegaye. In this interview with VOA the attorney general discussed the ongoing investigations and stated that there is no political interference in his work as he tries to bring former senior government officials who are suspected of massive corruption and gross human rights violations to justice.
