Ethiopia's ruling party ODP clarifies its position on Addis Ababa

The Ethiopian federal capital, Addis Ababa located in the heart of the Oromia region has been in controversy for the past few years. The Oromo Ethnic group, the largest in the country, have been demanding for a special interest law regarding the city, which they call 'Finfinee'. They recount a long history of atrocity which violently displaced them from their land i.e Finfinee and alienated from their culture. The Oromo community has been demonstrating for the past few years, which led to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's appointment. But the controversy regarding Addis Ababa is still not resolved. Many Oromo activists including Jawar Mohammed a prominent leader in the protest against the TPLF lead government last year that led to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's appointment have shared their stance on the city, Finfinee belongs to the Oromo people. The current ruling party the Oromo Democratic Party (ODP), formerly known as OPDO clarified its position on Addis Ababa.
