NAMA gives warning to Ethiopia’s federal government over the Western Gondar incident

The National Movement of Amhara (NAMA) is a pro-Amhara ethnic nationalist movement that was founded in 2018 with a goal to represent the people of the Amhara ethnic group. It was established amidst the wave of opposition that rocked Ethiopia two years ago. The party actively pursues all issues in Ethiopia, especially those concerning the Amhara region. Officials of the party sat down with officials of Amhara Democratic Party (ADP) yesterday to discuss the recent events in Amhara region and came to an agreement. NAMA held a press conference today to express its stand on current affairs, deep sorrow over the passing of civilians in the recent killings that occurred in Gondar. The party gave a detailed message to the federal government regarding the incident. It is to be recalled that nine people were reported killed and fifteen others were injured when a gunfire exchange happened between the military and unknown forces.
