Metehara residents displaced due to regional border conflict

Internal displacement in Ethiopia is increasing daily because of ethnic clashes in the country. The latest displacement news is from Metehara town. Metehara, a town located in Eastern Shewa in Oromia, has an estimated population more than 22,000. According to the news that broke out earlier, Metehara residents are forced to displace to Awash town due to a conflict between Amhara and Oromia regional borders. The displaced residents are staying in a temporary camp in Awash, and the mayor is calling for an immediate remedy to the situation. Mereja TV contacted Awash town Mayor Ahmet Mohammed on the current situation of the migrants. We also contacted Metehara town Mayor Halco Roba to find out the reason for the conflict and displacement.
