Betoch Drama is an Ethiopian comedy-series starring Tilahun Gugsa (Zeru), Makda Haile (Azalu), Gelila Rusom (Meraf), Fikadu Fasil (Bezabih), Melat Tesfaye (Eristie), and Ashenafi Mahlet (Yibekal). The show has been airing on the national TV station ETV since 2013, making it the longest-running Ethiopian TV drama series. The show airs on Saturday evenings. It follows the lives of Zeru played by Tilahun Gugsa and his family, all of whom live in Addis Ababa. Zeru's family includes his wife, their two sons, and two daughters.
The plot of the show revolves around a middle-class nuclear family that is facing everyday challenges. There are also other characters who are part of the family, including the original housemaid, "Tirfe," who was played by actress Seble Tefera until her passing away in a 2015 car crash. Other characters are the second maid named "Shashe" who is played by Nitsuh Haile, and a security guard named "Eke" played by Nibret Gelaw.
