After the appointment of Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed, who is also chairman of the Oromo Democratic Party, the country has overseen drastic changes that have reshaped the nation’s socio-economic and political trajectory. The changes are nothing short of seismic, proof that nothing remains the same forever. In just a few months, the prime minister has taken radical steps aimed at dismantling the country’s troubled past and paving the way for a new future. It is remembered that The Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), has been the organizer and leader of the Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), and has dominated Ethiopian politics Since the fall of the Derg in 1991. There is ongoing speculation that TPLF is not happy with the prime minister's reforms which lead to a division in the coalition. Today, EPRDF Executive Members started the regular meeting. The meeting came as a surprise while everyone was questioning the party’s unity. BBC interviewed former Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) fighter and founding member of ARENA Ato Gebru Asrat on his opinion of today’s EPRDF status.
