The mission appoints a Force Commander every year. In today's press release, AMISOM assigned Lieutenant General Tigabu Yilma as Force Commander for the year 2019. The post was previously held by the Ugandan Lieutenant General Jim Beesigye Owoyesigire since January 2018. In his acceptance speech, General Tigabu said despite the hurdles, he is up for the task. General Tigabu has served in the Ethiopian military for 34 years and held several positions in Ethiopia National Defence Forces (ENDF) with remarkable achievements.
