Addis Ababa residents comment on current Ethiopian politics

Appointed after the surprise resignation of former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, Doctor Abiy Ahmed inherited a country in chaos when he was sworn in this April. The Prime Minister has inspired a rare, renewed sense of national hope in Ethiopians around the world. He has accelerated a radical reform program that is overturning politics in the vast. When it began, the reform focused on a path that could unite the country for better. However, the entire political environment changed into an outright ethnic radicalism.  It is known that despite being a chartered city, the Ethiopian federal capital, Addis Ababa located in the heart of the Oromia region has been in controversy for the past few years. The city is affected by the current ethnic-based politics as a result of the ownership claims. The Oromo Ethnic group, the largest in the country, have been demanding for a special interest law regarding the city, which they call 'Finfinee'.  Mereja TV took the streets of Addis Ababa to check in with the residents.
