The main road connecting Harara and Jijiga has been blocked since yesterday. The route is seen jammed with trucks and transport cars till now. Eastern Hararge Police Commander Sultan Awel told the DW that the cause behind the protest is the poor living conditions in camps where people who have been displaced from their homes are staying at. The protesters blocked the road urging the government to solve the problem. Many displaced families have been staying in temporary camps in Harar for about six months. Different parts of Ethiopia has been hit ethnically motivated violence which led to lives being lost, property damage and families being displaced from their homes. Ethiopia topped the global list the of highest internal displacement in 2018 with a staggering number of 1.4 million people.
