It is reported that Addis Ababa schools are hit with a shortage of textbooks. The Addis Ababa Education Bureau Director Ato Elias Gebreyesus told Mereja TV that the shortage is caused by the delay of a publishing auction. He also added that the critical shortage of textbooks has affected the education sector a great deal and it brought immense challenges upon pupils and teachers alike. In the capital, Addis Ababa there are 778 primary and 869 secondary schools. It is reported that 2.7 million books are needed to fill the required amount. Ato Elias said that the bureau is working on solving the issue as soon as possible.
