Many experts were complaining on the limitless advertisement of alcoholic beverages and tobacco smoking and advertisement because they can be generation killers. Health Minister, Dr. Amir Aman discusses Ethiopian parliament's draft law that will impose a limitation on advertisements of alcoholic beverages. The limitation on advertisement of beverages restricts the broadcasting of beverages having less than ten percent alcohol to be from 9PM to 6 AM only. And concerning tobacco, the law restricts smokers from smoking tobacco in public places where people gather, to write the negative impacts of tobacco on the 70% of the packaging paper and bans the selling of single tobacco sticks. And in relation to medications, as long as it passes for a quality control, anyone can import medications, the pros and cons of the medication should be written in Amharic and English language, and forces the writing of the expense of a single medication on the packaging. Dr. Amir says this law will be approved very soon and some time will be given for the preparation of writings on the packages. Other than these, advertising laws will be applied immediately. And advertisements of alcohol beverages with big posters on the road will be dealt nex timet.
