Police arrest Addis Ababa Baladera Council members

Baladera Council has been actively advocating the interests of Addis Ababa’s residents. The council’s establishment concerned groups who had other plans for the capital. This became evident when the council had to cancel not one but two meetings recently. The council released a statement on April 16, 2019, to address the situation which included a continuous lack of support from several authorities. Following the recent events, members of the council prepared a banner that read “Stop harassing Addis Ababa Baladera Council” and began hanging it around Arat Kilo in Addis Ababa. The police arrested the members on the spot. Mereja TV contacted Commander Sisay from Addis Ababa Police Commission to confirm and inquire about the incident.
