Addis Ababa is the cultural and commercial hub of Ethiopia hosting headquarters and offices for continental and international organizations. The city is known to be safe with more than five million people residing. However, crime has been rising in the city with creative new ways, and most involving motorcycles and cars. After observing the problem, the city’s administration has come up with an unexpected solution. During a press conference organized by the administration, acting mayor Takele Uma announced that starting from July 7, the administration will impose a ban on the use of motorcycles in the city with an exception to embassy carriers, postal services, and licensed businesses.
