Universities in Ethiopia have been witnessing ethnic-based violence for months which mirrors the political tension in the country. Aksum University students have been protesting for days since the death of Seare Abraha, a graduating student from Shere Endaselassie, at Debremarkos University on May 28, 2019. The protest took a wrong turn when second-year mechanical engineering student Yohannes Masresha was killed by an unidentified group. Both Aksum University Communications and Regional President Dr. Debretsion expressed condolences to the families and beloved ones of Yohannes Masresha.
