Shimelis Legesse is a civil rights activist who recently moved to Ethiopia from the US. Since his return, he has joined the Baladera Council and has been actively following up matters related to Addis Ababa. It is to be remembered that Acting Mayor Takele Uma’s announcement of plans to demolish thousands of houses in the five big sub-cities in the city. The demolishment has already begun around Arat Kilo and the families are currently living in plastic houses.
