Acting Mayor Takele Uma called a press conference yesterday for an official statement on measures to be taken on illegally appropriated lands in Addis Ababa. According to his statement, the city council has found that lands in sub-cities such as Yeka, Bole, Kolfe, Nefas Silk and Akaki have been inappropriately handled. The acting mayor blamed investors, brokers, government executives and foreign powers with hidden political agenda, and announced to hold these parties accountable. Illegal landowners will be given two weeks of notification before the administration takes measures i.e. demolishment of the houses. He also added that anyone taking part in any activities that disturb the residents of the city.
