On Wednesday evening, Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council organized a massive Iftar (fast-breaking) at the Millennium Hall in the capital Addis Ababa with the motto Ethiopian Muslims unity and gratitude Iftar. Religious leaders, 10,000 and more Muslims, and high-level government officials including Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Muferiat Kamil (Minister of Peace) and acting Mayor of Addis Ababa, Takele Uma, among others, attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, the council presented PM Abiy Ahmed with an award. PM Abiy’s administration has made efforts to resolve differences within the Ethiopian Muslim community and helped to form a committee to accelerate reconciliation. He also pledged support for the establishment of the Islamic Bank in Ethiopia. He took the opportunity to emphasize the unity among the Muslim community can be a grand example for Ethiopians.
