Konso, a town on the Sagan River in Southwestern Ethiopia, is the administrative center of the Konso special woreda of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region. The town has been making political headlines since 2016 following the community’s demand for self-administration and the turmoil and conflicts that followed the demand. The downfall of such movements is the collateral damages that occur. The attack on journalist Dawit Wassihun from Akiya Media is one example.
