Melat Mulugeta

Zerihun Yetmgeta, born in Addis Ababa in 1941, is an internationally recognized Ethiopian artist. His colleagues gave him the nickname the scientist because he enjoyed working with his hands. His work combines modern art mixed with traditional motifs that create a cosmopolitan work of art.  His paintings and mixed media pieces combine elements of contemporary art with traditional forms, particularly from the icons and scrolls of Ethiopian Orthodox art.

His work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally. He has worked in a number of European and American museum collections, as well as in many private collections. His extraordinary choice of mixed media with modern painting trends has been recognized in numerous art books, national magazines, newspapers, and publications.
