On February 3, two mosques burned down in Southern Gondar after an altercation at a wedding. Many suspected that the conflict had a political motive rather than any religious implication. The religious leader of the two religions condemned the events and demanded actions against those responsible. Currently, residents in the area and Christian and Muslims from all around are lending a hand to rebuild the two mosques. This cooperation reassured the century-long sustained relationship among the followers of the religions in Ethiopia.
